The Band was formed in September 1990 with eight members, under the direction of Bob Brown. At the time, Bob was the Corps Sergeant Major at the Rothwell Salvation Army Corps and with his wife Freda took on the responsibility of running the Market Harborough Over Sixties Club. The band was made up of retired bandsmen , ex-bandsmen and others associated with Rothwell as part of the Over Sixties Club at Market Harborough. Bob retired in 1996 after which the band was conducted for the next 5 years by Ray Tucker. Stan Turnbull took over from Ray and conducted the band until the summer of 2005, when Derek Wears took up the baton. Derek took the band forward for the next 10 years and retired in 2015 when the present conductor, Geoff Riseley, the euphonium player, took on the conducting duties. The band, at present, has over 30 members, all from different local bands, who give their time, freely and enthusiastically, to perform at various functions, throughout the district.
